Fluffy Duck Race Instructions
The Fluffy Duck has arrived! Not yet signed up? you can do so here!
Sunday's race will be one to remember for sure! It's no surprise that we have received a bit of rain over the past week or so. As a result, we are making a couple tweaks to the course. Rest assured we have been out on the course updating markings and ensuring your safety. We won't let a little water stop you from having fun! All that said, you will get muddy so plan accordingly! Mud is all part of the fun!
But first, make sure you pick up your packet! You can pick up your packet Friday at Saturday at Fleet Feet Lewis Center during normal business hours. Alternatively, you can pick up on race day beginning at 7:00am, however please know that we do not delay the start of the race for late arrivals or people waiting until the last minute to pick up packets!
Race day location: All distances start and finish at The Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park. The start of the race is located just off of Hollenback Rd and just south of the dog park(3993 Hollenback Rd Lewis Center, OH 43035).
Race Start time: Sunday, April 7.
- 10K, 20K and 50K distances start at 8am.
-
6K distance start at 8:05ish
The Course:
- All distances will be run on the south loop only repeating the 10K loop as needed to complete your desired distance. South loop is run in a counter-clockwise direction. Full course map can be found here.
- 6K participants will follow the south loop to the aid station located approximately 2 miles into the course. At the aid station you will turn left and head out to the park road. At the park road you will turn right and follow the road for just shy of a half mile where you will turn left back onto the trail following the trail back to the finish. Ample signage and volunteers will be in place to keep you on track!
Water Crossings
- If you have run a Rocks and Roots event before you are no stranger to water crossings.
- The creek crossings are all quite low with minimal running water. you'll still get wet though.
- There are three spots along the trail where the reservoir is impeding the trail. Each of these spots are 2-3 feet deep. You can run straight through, or you may choose to walk are around them. Typically, we ask you remain on the trail to minimize erosion, but we are making an exception at these spots. At each location it will be clear how to walk around the water and will take you no more than 20-30 meters out of the way. Should you choose to go straight through, have fun and know you will come out wet and full of laughter.
Distance Changes
- Should you decide to drop down in distance you must notify the timers at the start/finish line. Failure to do so will result in disqualificaton and potential banishment from future Rocks and Roots events. This is for your safety, as it helps us ensure all runners have returned from the course.
