Olympian Molly Huddle talks about Saucony?s new Ride ISO

HUDDLE’S FAVORITE TRAINING SHOES GETS A MAKEOVER

As a marathoner, Saucony runner and Olympian Molly Huddle runs a lot of miles, sometimes in heavy training cycles, she’ll dip into the double digits. In a month, that can mean over 400 miles. You get the picture: she wears through shoes fast. As a Saucony-sponsored athlete, she receives all the training and racing shoes she needs and also tests early prototypes before anyone else. “I got to do this with the new Ride ISO,” Huddle says. “I did a lot of shorter runs in the early prototypes. I asked Saucony to add more room to the toe box, and I let them know my thoughts about the new materials.”

After multiple rounds of testing—both in the lab and on the roads—Huddle, along with the team at Saucony came up with the final version available today (in limited distribution till May 15). Here’s an early look at the shoe from Huddle and our team at Fleet Feet HQ:

DEETS:

Weight: 8.5 oz for women’s size 7; 9.7 oz. for men’s size 9

Heel-to-toe drop: 8 mm

MSRP: $120

FIT:

Saucony smart ISOFIT design forms a dynamic fit that adapts to the shape and motion of your foot. It hugs the mid-foot, forms a supportive cup around the heel and still allows wiggle room in the forefoot (thanks, Molly, for that early feedback!).

RIDE:

Three layers of “adaptable cushioning foam” create a soft, bouncy and flexible ride. “I especially like how the EVERUN feels,” says Huddle. “It’s the perfect blend of cushion and energy return.”

CONCLUSION:

This 10th generation model comes in at the same price point as previous versions ($120), but with increased durability and comfort, which makes it a long run gold medalist.

Huddle agrees. “The Ride ISO is ideal for longer runs and marathon buildup mileage. The shoe has a soft, roomy upper and plush cushioning which my feet need when putting in big mileage,” she says. “That extra cushioning goes a long way to ease the pounding, especially when I am running mostly on hilly asphalt and concrete.”
