Tri 201 Training Group Storm the Fort
On Saturday, August 24th, the moment the Fleet Feet Triathlon 201 Training Group had all been waiting for finally arrived - it was time to Storm the Fort! For 12 weeks, the group dedicated their time training, sweating, swimming, biking and running together to take on this Olympic distance triathlon. Storm the Fort, the last of the Grand Prix Series of races is held in Kingston, TN and starts with a long 1.5K open water swim, followed by a 40K bike ride through hilly but scenic back roads and culminates with a 10K run through Kingston. The last mile of the run is a challenging uphill climb toward Fort Southwest Point, which is Tennessee's oldest Federal Era installation standing on it's original foundation.
This year we had a record number of Fleet Feeters competing in this triathlon. With over 27 members competing together, our presence was also felt at the podium with many taking home awards and medals for their stellar performance. See the results here. For many in our group, this race was a test to see how they will fair in the upcoming Augusta Half Ironman. From what we saw, you will dominate Augusta! Speaking of Ironman, did you know that Ironman is coming to Chattanooga? Are you interested in training with us? If so, email us and let us know at trainwithus@fleetfeetknoxville.com Our triathlon training programs won't start up again next year but we are already planning so let us know.
