October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Fleet Feet Sports Montclair recognizes October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We invite you to join our efforts in raising awareness and take steps to help our fellow runners, mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, friends, co-workers, grandmothers, neighbors and the 295,240 newly diagnosed patients this year.

LONG SUPPORTED TRAINING RUN

Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 7:00 a.m.

We are hosting a long supported training run of 5, 10, 15 and 20 miles. There will be aid stations every 2.5 miles stocked with PowerBar gels and Perform drink and water.

Cost:  $10 Donation to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)

For every pair of GT-1000 3 PR running shoes, ASICS will donate $10 to Christina Applegate's Right Action for Women, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $100,000, up to $150,000.  


KNOW THE FACTS

The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in women in the United States for 2014 are:

  • About 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer.
  • About 62,570 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the breast will be found (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
  • About 40,000 deaths from breast cancer.
  • Cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.
