"I have been an avid runner since college. In the early years I ran to stay in shape. After having my 4 kids, I became interested in races. This picture is of me and one of my brothers, Brian at my first marathon- Dupont Trail , NC 2005. He had already completed one marathon and encourage me to join him for his next race. He said- if you can run a 10k, you can run a half marathon. If you can run a half, you can run a full marathon.....you all know how this goes!!!"
Fleet Feet: Of all the shoes you wear, which are your favorite and why?
Maureen: Definitely flip flops or sandals! My go to running shoe currently is Brooks Ghost.
Fleet Feet: Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
Maureen: My dad called me Boney Maroni growing up- all skin and bones, miss those days!
Fleet Feet: What was your first job?
Maureen: Besides lots of babysitting, I became a certified nursing assistant in high school and worked at a VA hospital and STILL decided to go into nursing!
Fleet Feet: What’s your favorite family tradition?
Maureen: I love all of our family holiday traditions! A more recent one since moving Summerville (7 yrs) is we host my family for Christmas dinner and my husband Chris makes Beef Wellington-yum!
Fleet Feet: Aside from necessities, what’s something you can’t live without?
Maureen: Tortilla chips!!!!! Running related would be my TriggerPoint ball.
Fleet Feet: If you had 30 minutes of free time, what would you do?
Maureen: If I had not gone for a run or exercised yet, I would get that done. 2) nap 3) stretch
Fleet Feet: If you were Waldo, where would you be?
Maureen: Visiting/ running in any place new!
