Franklin athlete who competes in wheelchair trains for half-marathon
Instead of the sound of athletic shoes pounding the pavement, spectators hear only the swoosh of wheels when Amy Saffell breezes past.
Saffell, who has competed in a half-marathon as well as 5K and 10K races using her wheelchair, has a new goal on the horizon.
The Franklin resident is training with three running groups for the Women’s Half Marathon, a challenging course through downtown Nashville on Sept. 28.
