Teri's Trail Magic Recipe

Did you attend the book launch for The Endurance Artist with Laz and Jared Beasley? If so, you got to take home a bag of Teri's Trail Magic - a delicious snack mix perfect for on-the-go fuel or for warding off the hangries. Here's Teri's time-tested recipe, but feel free to embellish and make it your own!

Teri's Trail Magic

• 1 box of Rice Chex cereal
• 1 box of Corn Chex cereal
• 1 box of Wheat Check cereal
• 1/2 box of Cheerios
• 1 stick (1/4 cup) of butter, melted
• 3 TB of Worcestshire sauce
• 1 1/2 TB of Lawry's Seasoned Salt
• 2 tsp of garlic powder (NOT garlic salt)
• Mixed Nuts 
• Miscellaneous items from the snack aisle such as, but not limited to:
  • Dots pretzel sticks (orginal seasoning)
  • Cheez Balls
  • Snyders pretzel pieces (preferred flavor is honey mustard but cheddar, buffalo or jalapeno work well, too)
  • Bugles (original, nacho cheese or ranch flavor all work well!)
  • Crunchy Cheetos
  • Goldfish Crackers
  • Bagel Chips

Preheat oven to 300

Combine the melted butter with worcestshire sauce, seasoned salt and garlic powder, mixing well to make your sauce. Next, combine just the corn chex and rice chex and spread between two large baking trays. Next, pour the sauce over the corn and rice chex cereal, stirring well. Now, add in the wheat chex and cheerios to the mixture and stir it all to combine evenly. (Everything else - mixed nuts and snack items - will be added after the mixture has baked and cooled).

Bake in an oven at 300 stirring regularly every 10 - 15 minutes. After about an hour, or until the cereal mixtures is golden and crispy, remove from the oven and allow to cool. Once cool, add in the rest of the snack items and combine well. At this point you may split into individual servings (makes about 120, 1 cup servings) or transfer to gallon zip-top bags or any other large, airtight container.

Pro-tips:

• Use a clean, 14 gallon unscented kitchen bag to combine all of the snack items with the cereal mixture
• When choosing snacks to add to your Trail Magic mix, it's best to walk the snack aisle and allow the snacks to speak to you. Customize to your preferred taste and cravings!
