Every Dollar Matters
Every now and again, you’re lucky enough to see what you do actually making a difference in a person’s life. And although some might consider us no more than glorified shoe salesmen and women (which you might think a backhanded compliment, but what I consider to be full-fledged praise), we’re fortunate enough to see our efforts in action more than most; we are sometimes able to give hope to those that have oftentimes thought themselves well past the point of no return when it comes to ever being able to walk or run again comfortably—those that thought that constant pain and discomfort were simply a way of life. We smile, we high-five, and those of us with long enough arms pat ourselves on the backs for a job well done.
And then we get humbled, big time.
A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to become the “King of Sole”, a designation assigned to the man (or woman) that raises the largest amount of money in support of the Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for sick and injured children (and their families) as they fight life-altering maladies such as cancer. Every single cent raised stays local and helps to insure that fewer and fewer kids are turned away during their greatest time of need—kids that desperately need some semblance of normalcy as they receive treatment.
Please join us this Saturday (March 25) as we celebrate these brave boys and girls, while also raising money (and awareness), at the Red Shoes Run on the Memorial Hospital campus. And while you’re at it, please consider giving some of your hard-earned money to a very worthy cause by clicking the link below; I’d be happy to finish in last place if it means I raised a ton of money in the process. I don’t often ask much of you, but this one time I will, because this helps to change the world, one pain-free kid at a time. This one is important. This one matters. Because every dollar matters.
