One Crazy Weekend
It’s time to get green, it’s time to run, and it’s time to walk. It’s going to be one crazy weekend y’all.
There is so much going on this weekend, with a chance to be green, run a few miles, and party with 2,000 of your closest friends on Friday night at the March of Dimes Shamrock Run. For the first time in Savannah Shamrock Run history there will be finisher’s medals, so register now and cross the finish line on Friday to get the Inaugural March of Dimes Shamrock Run Medal. Less we forget, this is also the 4thrace in the FAB 14 Run Series brought to you by Adidas and Fleet Feet Sports Savannah. This is a race all to itself, it has become the official kickoff to the Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. (Now keep in mind- I am the official who made that call, and I am bias to people walking and running, so yeah it’s official to me.) And if that’s not enough for you or you want to get even more involved in the running and walking scene, Friday morning before we green out that afternoon/evening, we will be joining the MS walk in downtown Savannah as they start their 3 Day MS Walk Challenge in Savannah. The MS Walk contacted us about helping them bring their event from Charleston, SC to Savannah, and we were happy to help them. They will be celebrating their 15th Anniversary this year and in Savannah. They are close to 90% of their fund raising goal and they tell me that participation is way up and fundraising is going great. So they are happy to be in Savannah and we are happy to they are here. Friday they will be starting in downtown Savannah and walking to Wormsloe State park, 21.5 miles. Saturday morning we will be joining them again, with an 18.5 mile walk on Skidaway Island, much of it near and thru the beautiful Landings. The MS 3 Day walk will wrap up on Sunday as we head to Tybee Island for a 10 mile walk. We will be there supporting them, with music, and our familiar balloon arch, and equipment. But mostly we want to help them to be very successful with their Inaugural event, and they are on their way. If you have some extra time and energy come join them, but if not go to their website and donate some money to this community, who are passionate about ending MS. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but a fun one. Now, I’m no expert on the weather, but I’m fairly certain that at some point the sun is going to come out and stay for a while.
Thanks everyone, see you at the starting line.
