Patrick Reagan: Project Carbon X

Patrick Reagan: Project Carbon X

If you live in Savannah and haven't heard the name Patrick Reagan; chances are, you live under a rock.

Before his time here in the lowcountry, Reagan lived up in southwestern Pennsylvania where he attained a B.S. in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University. He competed in Cross Country/Track and Field at Slippery Rock, and achieved an All-American honors in cross country at the 2007 National Championships. After graduating, Patrick played washboard percussion and tenor guitar in several ragtime bands based out of New Orleans, LA and Savannah. Reagan toured through 36 states with the groups he played with in 2009-2011. Following his musical career, he spent three years in the tricycle taxi transportation industry for Savannah Pedicab. Between his time pedicabbing and playing music, Reagan got involved with with the SCAD Savannah Cross Country team as an assistant coach. After the existing head coach retired, Reagan took the job and served 7 years as Head Cross Country Coach at Savannah College of Art & Design before retiring this past spring. He now runs professionally full-time for HOKA One One.

In 2016, Reagan made his ultra running debut at the Comrades Marathon as the top American male with a 12th place finish. He raced to the 6th fastest time by an American in the race's history (Up or Down). In August, Reagan improved his 2016 placement and time at the Ultravasan 90K (6:08.48, 2nd place). In his debut at the 100 Mile distance, Reagan won the Javelina Jundred 100 Mile Endurance run and bested the course record by 29 minutes.

When not running, Patrick is listening to Pre-WW2 jug band, ragtime, and jazz records, and drinking PERC coffee. He also has a healthy infatuation with Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Historical Fiction novels. Reagan lives in Savannah, GA with his wife, Adrienne, their two dogs, and cat.

So What is Project Carbon X?

At its core, Project Carbon X is a world-record attempt unlike anything you've ever seen. Nearly 5 years in the making all comes down to this. On May 4th, 2019, HOKA Athletes including Patrick will attempt to set a new 100K and 10x10K World Record, AND 100K American Record all at once. The Carbon X is HOKA's latest shoe design which features their lightweight cushioned midsole, a carbon fiber plate, and a meta-rocker profile. The shoe is expected to be available to the public on June 1st.

Here at Fleet Feet Savannah, we are proud and super excited to support our friend Patrick Reagan as he toes the line this Saturday in Folsom, California. Good luck, Patrick, its #TimetoFly!

The event will start at 9 a.m. EST Saturday, May 4, and will be streamed live on Hoka’s Facebook page.
