BLOG: We're Hosting a Food Drive with the Greater Chicago Food Depository
Hunger is not cancelled. Donate non-perishable food items and receive a $10 voucher to be used on an in-store purchase of $25 or more.
The COVID-19 crisis has left millions of Americans facing food insecurity, and many for the first time. As a result, food banks are seeing higher demand, fewer donations, and fewer volunteers.
Additionally, many of Chicago's turkey trot races, each supporting Chicago's food pantries, have had to cancel or go virtual. The Turkey Trot in Lincoln Park alone raised 8 tons of food, which will now be missing. Our mission is to fill that need.
To help fill the demand, we are partnering with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, to host a food drive at all Fleet Feet Chicago stores. Hunger is not cancelled and we’re calling on you as we partner with the Chicago Food Depository to fill this need and help our neighbors experiencing food insecurity at this time.
Here’s how you can help:
-
Donate non-perishable food items between November 19th - 25th and receive a $10 voucher to be used on an in-store purchase of $25 or more valid through December 31, 2020. Don’t know what to bring? Grab a bag from one of our stores ahead of time to find the most needed items.
LOCATIONS |
- Volunteer with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Volunteers are needed in the warehouse to pack food boxes. Volunteering is an essential service during the stay-at-home advisory and the food bank is taking additional steps to keep volunteers, staff, and the community safe.
VOLUNTEER |
- Donate monetarily at chicagofoodbank.org. Donations are put to use immediately to provide food for hungry people in our community. A $50 donation can help provide 150 meals.
