Gallery: 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
As we typically do, we sent our staff photographer Christian out to capture the unmatched atmosphere at the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. While a marathon in Chicago is unique in itself this year's one for the record books.
Brigid Kosgei set the women's world record with a time of 2:14:04, beating Paula Radcliffe's previous record of 2:15:25. This year's race had a record number of 45,786 runners and over 1.7 million spectators to cheer on runners.
Lawrence Cherono won the race in a sprint finish under ideal race temperatures reaching the mid 40's with sufficient cloud cover but the city's strong signature winds held others back from producing their own personal bests.
