The 606 Trail is Hosting Their First Race, We Have a $10 Discount for It

What was once an abandoned rail line in Chicago is now a 2.7 mile recreational trail in the heart of Chicago's neighborhoods called the Bloomingdale Trail, also known as the 606 Trail.

And it's not often you can run on the path while it's closed to the rest of the public.

For the first time, the Bloomingdale Trail will be closed to all other users for the first official timed event on the trail known as the Bloomingdale Trail Run on Saturday, June 23rd at 9 a.m.

The event goes through the heart of The 606. Runners will leave from Walsh Park (1722 N. Ashland) and finish at the western trailhead at Ridgeway Avenue (3700 West) near the McCormick YMCA for a total distance is 4.3 kilometers or 2.7 miles.

Since it's the first timed run on the path, you might have some questions. We're here to answer them and give you a $10 discount code at the bottom.

Race logistics

The race is set-up to be a "time trial" style race.

There will be dozens of waves. The first wave of runners will step off at 9:00 a.m., followed by waves of 100 runners stepping off every 2 minutes. The final wave will depart at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Waves 1-3 will be reserved for competitive runners (8 minute pace per mile or less), waves 4-10 will be reserved for recreational runners (9-11 minute pace per mile or less), and the remaining waves will be reserved for casual runners (11 minute pace per mile or more).
