Sports Bras with Color Inspiration from Pools & Oceans
Marathon training season is right around the corner. It's time to check in on all the things you will need to have a successful training cycle. If you're a woman, the first thing you should do is go through your sports bra collection and ask yourself the following questions:
When did I buy this particular bra?
If the answer is "more than a year ago" it's time to donate, recycle or toss that bra. Sports bras should not have a birthday. Think about it. No matter how many sports bras you may have, you defnitely have your go-tos. They get used more than the others - maybe up to two times a week! That's over 100 times per year - WOW! Chances are the supportive features in the bra have worn out - the velcro, the band, etc. If the bra is rubbing in the wrong areas it's time to say THANK YOU and GOODBYE.
What did I buy this bra for?
If you're using it for its indended purpose and is in good shape overall - keep it! Sometimes people retire their hardcore running bras into bras they use for lower impact activities.
Does this bra fit me?
Ladies, let's be honest we can change sizes depending on the time of the month. Ugh. Were you actually measured when you bought your sports bra? If not, it may not fit correctly. Make sure to check in with one of our Fit Specialists for a proper bra fit. You might be surprised at what size we put you in. And you'll also be surprised at how well it fits and performs. >> Check in with your regular bras too!
How many bras do I really need?
We typically say you need at least 3 - one on the body, one in the wash, one waiting ready to go. You never want to be without a sports bra when your in the midst of marathon training. If you're relying on only 1 or 2 bras and you dont >LOVE< them. Invest in some more. The price of a good sports bra may hinder some runners to purchase a high performance bra. However, remember we said you could wear a bra up to 100 times per year (that's 100 washes, too!). Our most popular bra, the Brooks Juno costs $65 if you wear that 100 times in a year that is only $0.65 per year. If you can spend $150 on a pair of jeans you may wear once a week, a good sports bra is a bargain.
Side note: you may need a few more depending on how many times per week you are running and how many times per week you do laundry.
