Jeremy Mckinzie (right) is the brother of Fleet Feet Fort Wayne's Matthew Winterrowd (left).
Three years ago, Jeremy was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism, which are blood clots in his lungs. Since then he has been on oxygen. Last October, he was in the hospital for a month and we almost lost him. We had been told that there was no way that the old clots in the lower lobes of his lungs could be removes because of their location. They were in very small vessels which made it impossible. With a lot of help from God's direction, his doctor was at a conference while he was lying in the hospital and discovered a doctor that has actually been doing a surgery that will allow them to remove the blood clots. The catch is that the doctor is in San Diego, and he is the one that developed this procedure. On September 20, Jeremy and his mother will be flying to San Diego and will be living there for a month at least. As you can imagine this is a very stressful time for the family trying to make arrangements for a month and being able to afford whatever may arise while in California.
This surgery is one that will change Jeremy’s life, get him off the oxygen, and allow him to go back to being a great Chef.
