Join the First Annual Salvation Army of Nampa Legacy Run/Walk and Celebrate Jerry Hull’s Inspiring Journey

On Saturday, September 28th, the Nampa community has the chance to come together for a meaningful and fun-filled event: the First Annual Salvation Army Legacy Run/Walk! This special event, held during the Salvation Army’s Fall Fest, honors the incredible dedication and spirit of longtime supporter Jerry Hull, a former Northwest Nazarene University professor and lifetime advisory board member for The Salvation Army of Nampa.

Six years ago, on his 80th birthday, Jerry found a unique way to celebrate—he walked a mile for each year of his life, raising funds for The Salvation Army’s programs that are dedicated to fighting hunger and homelessness in the community. His annual walk has since become a powerful symbol of hope and resilience, reminding us that every step brings us closer to ending hunger and homelessness in Nampa.

This year, as Jerry turns 86, the Salvation Army is inviting the entire community to join him in his mission. The goal is simple but impactful: let’s come together to walk or run a collective 86 miles to honor Jerry’s legacy and raise vital funds for those in need.

• Date: Saturday, September 28, 2024
• Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
• Location: Fall Fest, hosted at The Salvation Army Nampa (403 12th Ave S, Nampa, ID)
• Event Partners: Fleet Feet Treasure Valley, Idaho Power, Community Council of Idaho

Packet Pickup will take place on Thursday September 26th from 12pm - 6pm at Fleet Feet Nampa. 

Whether you’re an avid runner or someone who simply wants to show support, everyone is welcome! Walk or run as many laps as you’d like—each lap is just 0.25 miles. Whether you walk one lap or keep running for the full hour, every contribution makes a difference. All funds raised through entry fees will directly support essential services provided by The Salvation Army, including hot meals, food boxes, and housing support for individuals and families in Nampa.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! After the run/walk, stick around for the Salvation Army Fall Fest, featuring an afternoon of exciting activities for the whole family:

• Crafts and games
• Bounce houses
• Petting zoo
• Chili and pie contests
• Delicious food and more!

Your entry fee for the run/walk also grants you full access to the festival, so you can celebrate your efforts with a day of family-friendly fun.
