Race Recap: Treasure Valley Rescue Run

What an awesome day! It was a perfect June morning on the day of the Treasure Valley Rescue Run. The dew was thick on the grass yet no one seemed to mind. Upon arriving it was quickly apparent that this race was a bigger production than other races. All around squads of vendors prepared their booths preparing to share their products and messages with the racers and families. But what made this race truly remarkable was its purpose - a fundraiser for Operation Underground Railroad, an organization dedicated to saving the lives of children across the globe. With that said, we are excited to announce that this race managed to raise $8,339 for Operation Underground Railroad. Every single dollar collected will make an impact on their vital mission to rescue and protect children. Together, we are supporting a cause that transcends boundaries and brings hope to the most vulnerable among us.

Huge thanks to our partner, co-race director Wright Physical Therapy, who really showed what it means to care about a race. They brought out many of their staff who assisted with planning, setup, and quite a bit of cheering. The race itself featured three distinct courses: a kids' dash, a 5K, and a 10K. As the runners started to arrive, the vendor alley came alive with a vibrant display of supporters. A spirited warm-up led by Get Fit Meridian set the energetic tone for the day. Among the array of sponsors and supporters were Rise Modern Wellness, Exten Iv Therapy, Idaho Running Company, Horizon Credit Union, P1ne App, Garden City Fit, RockBox Meridian, Full Circle Farms, Orangetheory Fitness Meridian, and Stretch Lab Eagle. Notably, the race welcomed participants with strollers and four-legged companions, with Coach AK even taking on the challenge of running with a stroller, setting a new personal record. Our very own Fleet Feet Meridian Team member, affectionately known as "Gribz," displayed an extraordinary performance, securing 1st place in the women's category and an impressive 2nd place overall. Way to go, Gribz! Your accomplishment serves as an inspiration to us all.

Furthermore, the Treasure Valley Rescue Run marked the culmination of the Boise Big Run Training Program, the latest training endeavor by Fleet Feet Meridian. Under the guidance of Coach AK, this program brought together a group of determined runners hailing from across the Treasure Valley. Coach AK crafted an exceptional training plan and provided unwavering support to each participant.

To keep this momentum going, we are thrilled to announce that we’ll be launching the Fall '23 Training Program. At the heart of this program lies the City of Trees Marathon, a pinnacle event scheduled for October 14. Whether you prefer a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon distance, this race offers an opportunity for everyone to push their limits. As a participant in the training program, you will receive a unique discount code to secure your spot in this exhilarating event. Be sure to explore all the details by visiting our website.
