Run with a Purpose: The 15th Annual SueB 5K Race and The SueB Stroll
Fleet Feet Treasure Valley is elated to bring to you the 15th Annual SueB 5K race on October 6th, 2024, at 12pm. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Julia Davis Park, this year's event promises more than just a race; it promises a message, a cause, and a memory.
And there's something special for everyone! In addition to the race, there will be a community resource fair starting at 10:30 that is open to the public. This is an opportunity to discover and learn about the fantastic resources that our community has to offer. Raising awareness and encouraging important discussions about domestic abuse has always been a passion of Sue’s family and friends. A scavenger hunt centered around the WCA's services and resources will also be available for children 12 and under. Participants will meet at the rose garden at 11am and will each receive a gold medal after completing the scavenger hunt.
In addition to the scavenger hunt and resource fair there will be a bounce house for kids, food vendors, a photo-booth, therapy animals, and live performance from The Midnight Jazz Cats from 12:30-2:30pm. Registration is required for the race but the event is free for attendees.
Why SueB? SueB, or Susan Elaine Brubaker Newby, was a radiant soul who left the world too soon under mysterious circumstances in 2008. Her story brings to light the silent battles many women face in abusive relationships. This race is more than just a competition; it's a beacon of hope and awareness. By partaking, you're not just running a race; you're making a statement against domestic abuse and supporting those who face it.
Your contribution means a lot. Every penny from the race fees directly aids the WCA Endowment Fund. This ensures that the WCA can perpetually offer invaluable services, providing safety, healing, and freedom to those grappling with domestic abuse and sexual assault.
This event isn't just another run. It's a gathering of souls that believes in change, support, and community strength. Let's come together to celebrate positive relationships and honor SueB's memory.
