A Letter from Ed & Ellen

To our friends, employees, and the fitness community:

Today marks the 21st Anniversary for Fleet Feet Syracuse.  We started on Erie Boulevard on May 20, 2000, ultimately growing to our current locations in DeWitt and Clay.  We could have never imagined the number of people we would meet, the relationships we would build, and the impact that Fleet Feet would have on us, our employees, and the community.  The highlights have been many. 

We are so proud of the thousands who have participated in our training programs, our involvement in community events like the Tipp Hill Shamrock Run, Six Legged 5k, The Mountain Goat Run, Syracuse Half Marathon, Paige’s Butterfly Run, Syrathon, the One NY Virtual Race series and the countless charities, school groups and organizations that we have helped along the way.

No business can succeed without a lot of help. We have been so fortunate to have amazing customers, who remind us each and every day why we started Fleet Feet Syracuse. Our community partners, suppliers and franchisor, Fleet Feet, Inc., have supported us every step of the way and we thank you all.

Our employees have always been the heart and soul of Fleet Feet Syracuse, providing exceptional care to those seeking a great pair of shoes to walk the dog in, those recovering from an injury, and those wishing to run their first 5k or marathon.  Over 21 years, there have been many employees who have contributed so much, and quite a few that are still making an impact after starting here with us.  Some have gone on to own their own Fleet Feet stores, while others have climbed the corporate ladder, moved into the medical industry or traveled the world.  They all have a share in making Fleet Feet Syracuse what it is today, a wellness partner that earned your trust and business, recognition as the 2012 Best Running Store in America, and numerous other awards and distinctions over the years.

Although we are not hanging up our running shoes, we are retiring this week. We have sold Fleet Feet Syracuse to Fleet Feet Sports Development Company, a division of our Franchisor, Fleet Feet Inc. We will be working with Fleet Feet as store business consultants for one year to ensure a smooth transition.

Most importantly, our entire team will remain on board and have access to additional career support, advancement opportunities, and training. It gives us great comfort in knowing that what we started in 2000 will continue strong and long into the future. We remain huge fans of this team, and we will continue to cheer for and champion their hard work and success.

Your kind words, support, and friendship have meant more to us than you will ever know. It has been an honor to be a part of your lives and to be a part of this great community.
