ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT!!
Bonnie Misch started with us when she retired from 40 years in education. She found retirement to be amazing but needed more things to fill her calendar. She read an add from Fleet Fleet for their “learn to run” program. The following week she showed up in the parking lot at Longbranch Park along with over 100 other people also wanting to learn how to run. Where she had once thought running was just about throwing on a pair of sneakers and taking off, she found so much more.
"There were great people from all walks of life, fitness conscious and I had plenty to do. Coach Penny was the first of many wonderful coaches. Each ading their own unique perspective and experience."
Bonnie continued running and learning with the various Fleet Feet programs including Advanced 5K, Personal Best and Distance. At the age of 68, with much encouragement from Coach Mandy, Bonnie decided to run her first half marathon and stated that is was a "life-changing experience".
"My journey with running and Fleet Feet has made it possible to run the Boilermaker with my husband and son in law, the Ugly Sweater 5K with my granddaughter, and Mountain Goat relays with my younger daughter. Of course it has allowed me to run or cheer many races with other Fleet Feet runners. It’s hard, but all good!"
Bonnie, we are so lucky that you continue to run with us, motivate us and remain an integral part of our team!!
