ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT!!
Andy Knapp was inspired to join Fleet Feet distance running this past spring by colleague Steven T. Challis and his older brother; an avid runner and marathon finisher.
Andy has flourished with the Fleet Feet Distance program stating that "the coaches answered all my questions and cultivated a supportive group of runners, with whom I quickly formed close bonds during our long Sunday runs. Throughout the program, I learned to manage expectations, make healthier choices, and work on improving my form—all while having fun, cracking jokes, and even singing during runs. Before joining, 3-4 miles felt intimidating, but now I find myself thinking that 6 miles is too short for a distance day. It’s amazing!"
Andy decided at the beginning of this year that he wanted to make a healthy change to start running while still balancing family life. Since the start of the year, he's lost 25 pounds and completed several races, including the Skunk Cabbage Half Marathon, the Mountain Goat, and the 18.12-mile challenge. He is currently training for his first marathon this November in Philadelphia and we have absolutely no doubt that he's going to crush it! He's already excited for next year's training and may even test out the waters in a triathlon.
We are so happy to have him as a part of our team!!
