Paige’s Butterfly Run Celebrates 25 Years 

If you told us 25 years ago that as of today we would have raised over $3.7 million to benefit kids and their families fighting pediatric cancer in our community, it would have been hard to believe you (our first event raised $2,200)! But here we are, 25 years later, and it’s because of you and the Central New York running community – Thank you!  

Paige’s Butterfly Run is more than just a running event. We are a 501(3)c nonprofit organization, founded in memory of Paige Yeomans Arnold. Paige was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 6 and passed away just after turning 8 due to complications of treatment for her disease in 1994. Since the Run began in 1997, we’ve been working hard in Paige’s memory so that more children can celebrate more birthdays. 

We hold three events each year, including Pedaling 4 Paige (spinning event) and Clams 4 Cures (a clambake), but Paige’s Butterfly Run is our signature event, as well as our name. 

Every dollar we raise stays right in our community to help fund local research and patient programs for kids fighting cancer from the 22 counties surrounding Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Here are just a few ways you’re helping us make a difference:  

• Payment of medical treatment claims not met by insurance, or in the absence of insurance, for current patients and long-term survivors. 

• Hundreds of meal and gas cards were distributed to families going through treatment.

• The distribution of Comfort Kits (backpacks with toiletries, blankets, and a $150 VISA gift card), to all families with a newly diagnosed child (Golisano averages 60 -70 new diagnoses each year). 

There aren’t enough words to describe our gratitude to you and the Central New York running community for stepping up to support our mission over the past 25 years. From the bottom of our hearts – thank you for joining us in fighting pediatric cancer, and funding hope!
