Are You Ready for Summer?
Summer is just around the corner--are you prepared? Most of us Southern Arizonans would trade shoveling snow for the sun any day--that's why we live here, right? But summer sun and heat can make workouts uncomfortable at best, and downright dangerous if we are not prepared. Did you know that the average person needs to drink at least 24 ounces of water each hour of exercise to stay hydrated? Did you also know that statistics show that 1 in 5 Americans will develop some type of skin cancer during our lifetime? From hydration products to sun protection, we've got you covered this summer.
Here are some tips to help you and your family enjoy summer workouts:
1. Get out early! The best way to avoid overheating is to literally beat the heat and finish your workout before the sun is too bright. Need some motivation? Check out our Summer Sweathogs Training Group!
2. Hydrate! Drink plenty of fluids and electrolytes before, during, and after your workout. Fleet Feet has a variety of hydration belts and nutrition products to keep you drinking on the go.
3. Use Sun Protection! In addition to using sunblock, there are many apparel and accessory options that block harmful UVA and UVB rays. It might seem counterintuitive, but covering up can actually keep you cooler, especially with so many new fabrics on the market that actually keep you cooler. Let us show you how they work!
