Brooks Glycerin 22 Review: Fine-Tuned for Comfort?
The Glycerin 22, available February 1, has been updated with DNA Tuned cushioning, the same midsole foam used in the Glycerin Max.
The Brooks Glycerin 22 delivers an expertly balanced ride that combines luxurious comfort with responsive performance.
This max-cushioned trainer features all-new, nitrogen-infused DNA Tuned cushioning, engineered with innovative dual-size cell technology which allows Brooks’ designers to create different zones of cushioning. The result gives you plush landings in the heel that transition smoothly into energetic toe-offs, making your miles feel effortless.
In our Brooks Glycerin 22 review one of our wear-testers noted, "Overall, this shoe has a great ride. It’s smooth, soft, and has some nice pop to it.”

This is the second pair that I've ordered and the last pair really worked well. I run around 25-30 miles a week but have had knee issues in the past. So far, no knee issues. But I don’t lose any responsiveness
I have problem feet.. and I needed something that gave the best of everything I needed. This one fit the bill.. at least until I can get to a Dr. or have the two issues corrected.. and the timing right now is not working out.. but I do love the cushioning and the room in my toe box. .
It was a comfortable fit from the moment I put it in. It is definitely max cushion. FYI - The first shoe delivery that was filled by Durham NC Fleet Feet included one 9 (the size that was ordered) and one 10.5. So there was a glitch with quality control. I returned the shoes to the Asheville FF store and re-ordered. The next delivery got it right. Fleet Feet is my preferred store for buying running shoes because they are knowledgeable and I trust their advice. I prefer to buy from a local running store rather than on line.
I went from a glycerin 21 that was perfect to this and it is terrible. Fits very tight and is not comfortable at all
The shoes are really comfortable and they look really nice as well. They are a perfect fit. It is the second pair that I have bought at Fleet Feet in Biltmore Park near Asheville NC. The service in the store is exceptional.
This is my 2nd pair of Glycerins and they protect my feet even in my 60's.
I have worn Brooks Glycerin 21s with CUR REX insoles since February 2024. I started with a single pair, but I now have three which I rotate thru daily — Black, Gray, and Yellow. I recently replaced the Black pair and noticed that the Glycerin 22’s were a little different, the laces are a tad shorter and the tongue opening is slightly wider. But the most interesting improvement is the small loop at the heel which allows you to comfortably put on the shoes without using a shoehorn. A very nice improvement! Comfort and quality are up to my usual expectations for Brooks shoes. Thanks for a nice little evolutionary improvement.
The Brooks Glycerin 22 is stylish and comfortable. I've been purchasing this style for a few years and been very satisfied.
I have owned the last three iterations of Brooks Glycerin shoes. They are great for daily walking and provide nice cushioning.
