Features
Calling all trail racing fiends, gravel grinders and 100-milers. There’s a new trail titan in town.
Built for long-haul efforts, the Mafate X delivers supreme plushness with a dual-density, premium foam chassis, PEBA top layer and a pop of propulsion thanks to a forked carbon fiber plate. HOKA implemented an ultralight woven upper that allows for easy drainage and Vibram® Megagrip outsole with pod-like cutouts to ensure a smooth ride over variable terrain.
Details:
- Upper: The thoughtfully designed woven textile upper with patent-pending dynamic vamp adapts to your foot shape while letting water escape after stream crossings. The gusseted tongue keeps debris out, while the protective toe cap and molded TPU heel counter keep you secure when the trail gets rough.
- Midsole: HOKA smooth MetaRocker™ works with the rearfoot-focused Active Foot Frame™ to guide your stride naturally. The carbon fiber plate delivers energy that helps you power through fatigue, while the PEBA core and super critically foamed EVA carrier provide cushioning that stays comfortable for miles upon miles.
- Outsole: Trust your footing thanks to the Vibram® Megagrip compound with 3.5 mm lugs and zonal rubber placement that balances grip, durability and weight.

100 mile slayer
I did my peak training weekend for my upcoming hundred mile race in the shoe both on technical trails and on road. the shoe isn’t the best for the most technical trails. But It absolutely crushes everything else because it’s so comfortable, light and responsive. I literally felt like my leg muscles and legs had less fatigue on my second long run day because the shoe was so cushioned. It was a 46 mile weekend so I’d say I tested the shoe pretty good putting it through many conditions from rocks, long downhills, rough single track etc.. did I mention this shoe keep your feet and legs fresh 4 miles on big epic runs yeah check please. for shorter fast 50 K races I would use the Tecton X’s. But for those big massive efforts and days out there, this is the shoe if it fits you.
