Saucony used to do this: they would update the Triumph and then a couple of years later, the Ride would be that shoe with slightly less premium upper and slightly different foam, maybe less stack height. Saucony got away from that, and they were just different shoes. This year's Ride feels like the Triumph 20 or 21. Similar knit upper, slightly different foam. The upper felt a little snug but after a mile it opens and is a comfortable with good lock down. I think the tongue gusset is a little less aggressive than recent iterations of the Ride or Triumph. I think it's a great shoe. I have a high arch and a tall foot and I think this feels good.
I compared both Hoka’s which I bought almost 2 years ago with the Saucony Ride. I found that the Saucony’s were more comfortable, had more cushioning and didn’t have to change the insoles as I did with the Hoka’s. The arch in the Saucony’s are at least for my feet, as perfect as you can get.
I mainly use the shoes for walking and the cushioning works for long walks. I get less fatigue then my previous shoes.
