Altra Timp 4
Features
Cruise through the trails in the ultra-cushioned Altra Timp 4.
Ready for any hike or trail run, the Altra Timp 4 features an Altra EGO™ MAX midsole, making it softer and giving you more energy return underfoot. Altra also added drainage ports in the forefoot so you can frolic through streams, creeks and puddles.
Run over technical terrain with confidence. The Timp 4 features Altra’s MaxTrac™ outsole with a new multi-directional lug pattern for grippy traction on any trail. There are modified InnerFlex grooves in the outsole so it is flexible enough to run over roots and rocks.
The updated upper features an abrasion-resistant mesh with durable overlays to keep your feet protected. Altra also updated the collar construction for a softer, more premium fit.
Plus, it has Altra’s signature gaiter traps if you want to add extra protection against dirt and debris.
The Timp 4 has all of the features Altra shoes are known for. A FootShaped™ toe box lets your toes splay as you are running across uneven ground and Altra’s Balanced Cushioning (or zero heel-to-toe drop) promotes natural running. Finally, the women’s version features Altra’s Fit4Her technology. Altra uses a separate last for their women’s shoes that take into account the differences in women’s feet which can include longer arches and narrower heels.
The Altra Timp 4 is a tough trail shoe ready to take on any adventure.

Excellent shoe
I love Altrec shoes. The fit is perfect for my foot
Happy trails
This is my second pair and are my happy shoes on the trail. Fit is great and the greater cushioning has been great.
Disappointed
I bought these at the beginning of the summer and walked the dog 4.5 miles in them each day. I really like them and the cushion and toe box room they provide. However the tongue gave me grief from day one and wouldn't stay in the center of my foot and I'm constantly adjusting it. It's been 3 months and they have totally fallen apart. I'm definitely not an ultramarathon runner and I've got a hole in the side and the soles are completely bare causing me to skid out on rocky areas. After paying $160 for these shoes I expected them to last at least 5 months. So sad they haven't held up.
