South Side Native Chris Smith is Running For Something

Chris Smith, the driving force behind the 'Running for Something' charity campaign, is on a mission. As the founder of the LYD Foundation (Live Your Dreams), Chris, a proud native of Chicago's South Side, draws inspiration from his upbringing attending after-school programs designed to instill essential life lessons in young boys.

These sessions covered a spectrum of topics, from financial literacy and building relationships to citizenship. However, what really motivated Chris to attend was the promise of an hour of basketball following each session. Post-college, Chris returned to the South Side with a burning desire to effect change. He sought to replicate the positive impact he experienced as a child and, in doing so, established the LYD Foundation to extend opportunities to the youth of the South Side.

At its core, the LYD Foundation is dedicated to promoting equal access. A major focus of their mission is to deliver fresh produce to senior living facilities through the efforts of the youth in Chris's program. Beyond community service, Chris sees this initiative as bridging the gap between generations, recognizing the reciprocal learning opportunities between the young and the elderly.

In the current academic year, Chris is spearheading the Running for Something campaign with his "10 in 10 Challenge." This ambitious endeavor involves running 10 marathons in as many months. Joining forces with Fleet Feet and New Balance, Chris is gearing up for his November marathon at Fleet Feet Old Town on November 11th at 10 am. You're invited to witness Chris's dedication and even run the last 4 miles alongside him. As a bonus, runners can test the new 1080v13 while supporting Chris in his noble mission. RSVP to be part of this inspiring event.

If you can't make it to the event but still want to contribute, you can make a donation here. Remember, no amount is too small to make a meaningful impact.
