Best Places to Run or Walk in the Greater West Hartford Area

West Hartford Reservoirs and Reservoir 6: Enjoy 30 miles of paved or gravel roads, perfect for running, walking and hiking. Visit their website here for parking and rules.

Trout Brook Trail: Traverse along Trout Brook on 10ft wide paved trail spanning ~3.7 miles from Asylum Ave. to New Park Ave. Finish your run on New Park Ave. and refuel at the nearby GastroPark & Small State Provisions for some food and drink.

Woodpond: Enjoy a 2.6 mile loop around the scenic Wood Pond and Woodbridge Lake. Or extend your run/walk through the gardens of Our Labyrinth at CT Catholic Retreat Center.

Elizabeth Park: Explore beautiful flower gardens, the pond and lovely winding paved walkways or dirt/stone-dust trails. View their website and rules here.

Rockledge Golf Course (Winter Season Only): When golfing closes for the winter season, joggers and walkers can use the trails, subject to site regulations. Choose from the yellow (.6 miles), red (1.6 miles) or blue (2.2 miles) trails. Trail map and rules here.

Conard High School/Hall High School Tracks: Outside of school hours and when not in use for a school or after-school program, Conard and Hall's tracks are open to the public.

Westmoor Park (Walking Only): This local 162 acre park features many short, lovely trails for walkers. Trails include the Self Guided Nature Discovery Trail (.99 miles and handicap-accessible), Maple Swamp Trail (.29 miles), Woodland Wildflower Trail (.39 miles), Loop Trail (.47 miles) and the Wet Meadow Trail (.4 miles).
