The Fit Process

Everyone has unique needs, stories, goals and feet, of course! And with so many great footwear options, where do you begin?

Begin with a fitting at Fleet Feet Hartford! With modern technology and old-school customer service, our Outfitters have the experience and expert know-how to find shoes that will work best for YOUR unique feet and body. Beyond shoes, we can outfit you for insoles, socks, run bras, apparel and even accessories!

Our 3D Scanner and Gait Analysis

Our 3D fit id® foot scanning technology makes a 3D model of your feet and ankles. It measures the size and width of your feet and so much more! From the shape of your foot, we can find the right size for you and can identify shoes and more that will work for your unique foot shape.

With our Dynamic Pressure Mapping system, we can detect pressure points under your foot and flexiblity in your arches and ankles. We also watch you walk to determine the unique needs of your gait. Pressure points show us where you need extra cushion and support under foot, while your gait and flexibility determines if you would benefit from a shoe with extra guidance.

One-On-One Fitting

We want to hear your story. What are your activities and goals? Do you have any injuries or pains? What footwear has worked well or not-so-well in the past? 

From your experiences and goals, coupled with your scans, we can determine which shoes will work best for you! Try on a pair of our socks before trying on a few shoes selected by your outfitter. While you try on our shoes, we will examine how the size of the shoe fits your feet and how your gait looks as your walk or run. Once you find a shoe that works for you, we will try an insole that works for your arches and gait. Insoles can improve support and comfort for your feet, knees, hips and lower back. Fitting FAQ

At Fleet Feet Hartford, no appointment is needed. You can walk in to our store to be fit and sign-in to our waiting list up front by the entrance. We are happy to help everyone with a one-on-one fitting where we can scan and measure your feet and start with a few shoes for you to try on. Sit back and relax as we put on shoes and tie them for you! 

If you do not want a fitting or know what you want already, we are always happy to bring out specific shoes for you too and personalize our service to your needs. Our full fitting is typically 30 minutes long, and we take our last full fitting a half-an-hour before we close. If you have special needs or physical limitations, we welcome everyone at our store and have experience helping people with a variety of ages and abilities.
