Ironman Florida...a Wild Ride
Fleet Feet friends Andrew McClintock, John Blaszkow, Richard Cox and Fleet Feet Knoxville Owner and head coach, Shahin Hadian headed down to Florida to enjoy the sea, salt and sun at the Ironman Florida competition in Panama City Beach, Florida. For coach Shahin, this was Ironman #3 for the year but for the guys, it was their first and they certainly trained hard.
The guys prepared all year for this race and on 11/2/2013, they put on their swim caps and dove in to the very turbulent waters of the Gulf of Mexico for a 2.4 mile swim. All the guys finished strong out of the water and headed straight to the bike for a fast, flat, one-loop bike. While the course is flat, beachy head winds can make the course very challenging, practically holding the bikers back. But the guys fought on and the winds calmed down and the day turned beautiful just in time for the two-loop run course through local neighborhoods filled with cheering supporters.
Everyone was supported by their friends and family and Coach Shahin, true to form, stayed on the course making sure the guys knew he was there cheering them on until the sweet, sweet finish. We are super proud of you, Richard, Andrew and John. Thank you for letting us be a part of your Ironman journey.
