Summer is here and we are all in a race to see how much fun we can pack into a few short months.
Music and running are becoming as comfortable with each other as peas and carrots. Of course at Fleet Feet Sports we always caution people to not wear earbuds while running in busy streets but we will save that full sermon for another day because this blog is about music and running.
My wife Ellen and I want to invite you to the best music party of the summer. Unlike a lot of the big concerts in Upstate New York, this affordable show will only cost $20 and includes food and drinks. So mark the date: 5 p.m. Saturday, July 8. Yep, the day before the Boilermaker and the reason we are starting at 5 p.m. The concert and party will be done by 8 p.m. so you'll have plenty of time to get some rest before heading to the Boilermaker. Oh, almost forgot, we will have pasta and some great New York Craft Beers, so you will be race ready.
Now to the good part, we are hosting Christian Lopez and his band for this special show. We saw Lopez on an annual music cruise we go on each year and he was the best act on a ship packed with Grammy Award-winning music superstars. This 22-year-old from West Virginia was named “Best Newcomer” by Rolling Stone in 2015, he was a two-time finalist on “American Idol” and has opened for Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. Lopez has just signed to be managed by the famous William Morris Agency in New York City and is stopping off here in Syracuse for the weekend before a week of promotion and shows in the Big Apple.
So what makes a Christian Lopez show so much fun? The answer is the energy. Just imagine a cross between Mick Jagger, Elvis and Brian Johnson from AC/DC and that is the energy he brings. The music is a combination of rock, Americana and country. Check out Katrina Tulloch’s interview with Lopez on Syracuse.com in the next week or so.
Tickets are limited, so if you would like to attend, please purchase them soon. The show will be held in Manlius and the location will be sent to those purchasing tickets.
Kick of the summer with Fleet Feet Sports featuring summer foods, New York Craft beer and Christian Lopez in Syracuse for the first time.
