Cardinal Mental Skills
Success requires practice, experience, and doing the hard things. Physical excellence requires practice. Mental skills require practice as well. This is where mental skills interventions are key.
Sport psychology encompasses many concepts. The five cardinal mental skills are relaxation/arousal regulation, focus, self-talk, imagery, and routines. Other mental skills include goal setting, mindset, confidence, and mindfulness.
Several of these concepts will be covered with actionable tips given over the course of five workshops.
The first workshop will cover goal setting. This will include how success is defined for you, what motivates you, and what happens when you encounter roadblocks. Subsequent workshops will cover self-talk, routines, emotional regulation, and recovering from injury.
