Big Winners at Fleet Feet Race Series
On January 3rd, Fleet Feet Chico held its annual prize giving party for top local runners. Thanks to the support of C&M Automotive, Fleet Feet was able to offer some substantial prizes in its 2012 Race Series. During the year local runners earned points for the performances they put in at a series of local races throughout the Chico area. The top eight points earners, both male and female, won cash prizes ranging from $50 to $425. There were also prizes for the best three individual performances of the year.
Some of the top performances in 2012 came from 7-year old Liberty Bronson, the winner of the top prize for females, and Frank Condon who achieved the highest ever single point score with his performance at the Downtown Chico Mile.
Alan Rice, Co-owner of Fleet Feet, commented: "2012 saw more new races come to the Chico area, as well as increased attendance at many of the long-standing events. Our Race Series is a way of tying those events together and awarding participation and performance across all of them."
One of the neatest things about the Fleet feet Race Series is that it is "age-graded", which means that all runners stand a chance whether they are fast and young or a little slower and not so young.
Added Rice, "For such a small town we have some amazing athletes, and there were some great performances. The Series is free for 2013 so I urge everyone to sign up, young or old, fast or slow. You have nothing to lose."
