We’re excited to announce the opening of our third location, supporting the York community, in 2025. We'll be open starting January 4 and we'll have our Grand Opening Celebration on March 8.
Flying Feet Sports Shoes, a staple in the York community, is closing at the end of this year. Flying Feet owners Greg and Celine Baum, have decided to retire after 40+ years in business. We’ll be purchasing their location and we are beyond honored to step into their shoes. Although we’ll be operating under the Fleet Feet name, our commitment to supporting the local community will remain the same.
We’ll be opening in the same location as the current Flying Feet store, on Mt. Rose Ave, in York. The new Fleet Feet location will open early in 2025.
We recently sat down with Greg to hear more about his story and the legacy he’s leaving behind in the York community.

Unable to find the right shoes for his cross country team in the 1970s, he decided to reach out directly to New Balance. He started buying shoes at the minimum required to buy as a business, and soon found himself selling shoes out of his car and from his basement. In 1982, he officially opened Flying Feet Sports Shoes.
When asked what some of his Flying Feet moments were, he told a story of a high school star runner who didn’t have access to proper cross country spikes. He later made sure she got a pair, and she went on to become a state champion. He said there’s quite a few stories like this. It’s quite evident that Greg takes pride in his community’s success. Greg reflected on what he’ll miss and responded “I’ll miss seeing the customers who are more than customers, they're friends.” He wants Flying Feet to be remembered as always giving customers the best value, the best fit, the right product and that they did it with honesty and integrity. “As a business, we tried to do right by our customers and the community that has supported us.”
