Pop-up runs supporting the Food Bank
Fleet Feet Running Club will have three pop-up runs this summer to support the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Donations of foods and funds often trend down for the summer months while needs increase. Nearly 300,000 kids and teens count on school-provided meals throughout the school year in the Food Bank’s 34-county service area, and approximately 1 in 5 children under 18 experience food insecurity.
The Food Bank is always in need of the types of shelf-stable items that you pick up for your own family: things like peanut butter, canned tuna fish and chicken, soup, pasta, and canned fruits and veggies.
You can help #stopsummerhunger by bringing an item to donate during any of our pop-up runs.
These events are free (but bring a donation!) and open to all paces and experience levels.
See here for more info about this season's food needs and other ways you can help the food bank this summer.
Thursday, May 26 at 6:30pm - Pop-up Trail Run
Meet us at the Sycamore parking lot at the north entrance to Umstead State Park. All experience levels are welcome at this trail run, and trail-specific shoes are not required. The parking area has restrooms with running water and popsicles will be provided after the run.
Wednesday, June 1 at 6am - Pop-Up Sunrise Walk at NCMA
Join us at the North Carolina Museum of Art for a walk at sunrise. Let's beat the summer heat and get our walk on through NCMA's museum park. We will meet by the new welcome center in the front parking lot of the museum.
Thursday, June 9 at 8:30pm - Light Up the Night Pop Up Run
Join us for a night run through downtown Raleigh! We are going to take to the streets in search of lights and art.
We'll meet at Morgan Street Food Hall in Raleigh (411 W Morgan St.). This run is inspired by Illuminate Art Walk; we will run a 3.5 mile route through downtown Raleigh stopping at different light art and fixtures.
