Volunteers needed for community 5k

Volunteers needed! The organizers of the inaugural Oberlin Village Heritage 5K are looking for a few more people to help out with the event on June 18. Their greatest need is for course monitors—you'll get to keep runners safe on the course while you cheer them on!

The Oberlin Village Heritage 5k Run/Walk is a community event supporting Friends of Oberlin Village, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Raleigh's historic Oberlin Village. Oberlin Village is the only surviving freedman’s village in North Carolina that grew out of a Free Black settlement during Reconstruction. The June 18 event will also include a free pop-up museum exploring Oberlin's history and legacy.
