Join the Fleet Feet Carrboro & Durham Mentor Team!

Mentors play a key role in ensuring a positive and impactful experience for our training program participants. Do you have a passion for helping others reach their goals? If so, we invite you to become a part of our Fleet Feet Mentor Team! We are currently seeking enthusiastic run and run/walk mentors for our ongoing training groups, ranging from 5K to the marathon.

As a mentor, you’ll be part of a dedicated and supportive team that inspires and guides participants toward achieving their walking and running goals.

What is a Mentor?

A mentor is a vital resource for our training program participants and serves as an ambassador for Fleet Feet Carrboro & Durham. Mentors attend each group workout to offer support and guidance. Their primary responsibilities include:

• Bringing positivity and encouragement to every workout

• Promoting safety and providing support throughout training sessions

• Maintaining an assigned pace or interval while walking or running

• Running alongside participants, ensuring everyone stays on track

• Educating participants about Fleet Feet's products, services, and training solutions

• Sharing personal experiences to provide valuable training insights and balanced training and living advice

What We’re Looking for in a Mentor:

• A passion for motivating and inspiring others in a positive and supportive manner

• Completion of at least 2 races at your preferred distance

• Ability to attend 90% of all twice-weekly training workouts

• Willingness to relay important information and feedback to the Head Coach and Training Program  

• A dedication to mentoring, rather than personal training goals, during group or race runs

• Ability to maintain the assigned pace or access to a GPS watch or app for pace management

• Must be prepared to carry hydration and wear appropriate visibility gear

• A people-oriented individual with a desire to help others achieve their running and walking goals

• Willingness to represent Fleet Feet Carrboro & Durham as a brand ambassador

• Availability to attend mentor training sessions

• The Big Run 5K Training – Fast

• Faster Mile: Speed Training

• Summer Miles Club

• Into the Woods: Trail Training

• Starting Line: 5K Training

• 10K and 5 Mile Training

• Half Marathon

• Full Marathon
