Our journey.
Carolyn and I worked in corporate America for many years. Our careers taught us the
value of a superior product and outstanding customer service, and that separated us
from our competition.
One Christmas, our son came home on leave. He suggested to Carolyn that we go to
Fleet Feet Stuart and get fit for running shoes as my Christmas gift. It was a surprise to
me when we showed up. Long story short, I was so impressed with the level of service,
and my new Mizuno Wave Riders! I couldn’t stop talking about this place, I thought it
was just amazing.
About a year had passed and I was getting restless in our real estate career. I just want
to do something more fulfilling and rewarding. I kept thinking about that little Fleet Feet
store that I couldn’t stop talking about. I reached out to Susan, one of the owners at the
time. She invited me in to have a conversation and the next thing I knew I had a part-
time job making $9 an hour. After my first day, I went home and told Carolyn that this
was all I wanted to do. I fell in love with this place. Our real estate career continued, but
the passion I had for this store was relentless, and incredible.
The current owners were in their 9th year of ownership and were considering retirement
on their 10th year anniversary. We decided to throw our hat into the ring, started
discussing taking over as owners, Carolyn and I both started full time, and Susan and Al
started mentoring us and preparing us for ownership. Well one thing led to another and
here we are today with 2 locations, Stuart, and Port St Lucie. And now our daughter
Megan, her husband Brian and the twins, have joined the family business. We love
being involved in our community. It's a great feeling helping customers reach their goals
and live healthier lives. It's the perfect fit for all of us, we love it.
Over the years I've had the opportunity to run several ultramarathons, multiple full
marathons, half marathons, a bunch of 5K and 10K distances as well as trail racing and
team relay races. I enjoy it all. Carolyn has run multiple half marathons, many 5K’s, trail
races and team relay races as well. We love being on the trails running and hiking. It's
one of our favorite places to go. We also love hanging out at the ocean and spending
time with our children and grandchildren. We're excited about our future with Fleet Feet
and growing our family business. We are so grateful for all the support from our
community. Running truly changes everything!
