Half & Full Marathon Training Fall 2019
Join Fleet Feet over the course of 12 weeks to train for the Madison Half and Full Marathon on November 10, 2019. Receive instruction, guidance, support, and camaraderie throughout your training! All pace levels are welcome.
Important Program Dates:
Goal Race: Madison Half & Full Marathon November 10, 2019
Program Duration: August 21, 2019 – November 10, 2019 (12 weeks)
Program Kick-Off: Wednesday, August 21, 2019 @ 7:15pm Fleet Feet Madison
First Group Run: Saturday, August 24, 2019 @ 7:00am
* We can help you adjust mileage if you are training for another fall event
Program Kick-Off: Wednesday, August 21 @ 7:15pm at Fleet Feet Madison. This first meeting will be informational (we will not be running this day). We will run through safety concerns and requirements, training plans and program details, and discuss how we can help meet your needs this season.
Group Runs: Group meeting locations will vary around the Madison area. Weekend meeting locations will rotate between west, central, and east areas of Madison. Wednesday group runs will alternate between the Fleet Feet stores and other central areas of Madison.
- Wednesdays 6:00PM
- Saturday mornings 7AM – long run
- Participants are also encouraged to participate in our weekly Pub Runs on Thursday evenings at 6pm.
Training Program Registration: Fivil Online Registration Closed
Registration deadline: Monday, August 19, 2019
- Early Bird: $135 (until August 5, 2019)
- Regular Rate: $145 (August 6 – August 19)
- Late Registration: $155 (August 20 and after)
*Entry into the Madison Marathon Events is NOT included in your training program registration

Age Requirements for participation:
Half Marathon: 16 years* | Full Marathon: 18 years of age
*Parents/Guardians are required to participate in the training program if registering a person that is of minority age (under 18 years old)
BASE MILEAGE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF FALL HALF/FULL TRAINING:
These recommendations are in place to help you stay healthy and injury free throughout the season and build on an existing fitness foundation. If you have any questions or concerns about these recommendations, please contact Megan: Director of Training Programs
- Half Marathon: 4 mile long run, 6 mile weekly average (we recommend you be able to comfortably run 3 miles 2-3x/week at the start of training).
- Full Marathon: 10-12 mile long run, 20-mile weekly average
**BECOME A FALL TRAINING PROGRAM PACER**
We are currently recruiting pacers for our Fall Half/Full Marathon Training program! We are looking for pace leaders for the Saturday long runs throughout the length of the 12-week program. Pacers are assigned to run a designated pace +/-:05 minute mile for the duration of the long runs on Saturday mornings at 7:00am. We request that our pacers’ schedule allows them to pace at LEAST 3 long runs throughout the course of the program. Although not required, we favor those who have previously participated in a Fleet Feet training program.
If you have experience running various half marathons and/or marathons, enjoy motivating other runners, and can run with enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment please contact Megan.
Program pacers receive free program entry (not including race entries), pace team perks, and the priceless feeling of helping your fellow runners achieve their goals!
