With Fleet Feet’s Marathon Training Program, you’ll find a holistic training plan to help you cross the finish line feeling empowered.
Marathon training isn’t just about logging miles. It’s about learning to challenge yourself incrementally, tackling different types of runs, building strength and making space for rest and recovery.
With our marathon training plan, You and your fellow runners will bond as you train, learn and improve together, with plenty of support along the way.
Here’s what you can expect:
- 19 weeks of daily training with our expert coaches
- In-person support for accountability, camaraderie and fun
- Warmup and cool down exercises to make every run smoother
- Mobility and cross-training exercises to balance your training
- Coaching support in person and via Final Surge messaging to answer your questions along the way.
The California International Marathon (CIM) takes place on Sunday, December 8, 2024. This 26.2 mile run starts in Folsom and ends at our state's capitol building! This race has a net elevation loss and is one of the country's best Boston Marathon qualifiers! It is a fast marathon course and a great first or 20th marathon course.
Kick Off Informational Meeting
Not sure if this program is for you? All are welcome to meet the coaches on Thursday, July 25 at 6:00pm at Fleet Feet Folsom to learn about the program and ask any questions you may have. The meeting will be followed by a 30-minute shakeout run!
Weekly Workouts
- July 25th to December 5th
- Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm at various locations
- Saturdays at 7:15am at various locations
- Workouts will be in the Folsom and surrounding area
- Since many participants train for both races, we will combine CIM with the Urban Cow Half Marathon Training Program
Goal Race
- We will prepare you for the California International Marathon on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
- Your registration includes a training program t-shirt and access to the Fleet Feet tent on race day.
Training Schedule
The training is designed to increase week to week so you build slowly, steadily, and consistently towards your goals.
- Tuesday workouts consist of intensity such as intervals, hills, and tempo to improve your fitness.
- Thursday workouts include strides, product demos, and more to stay motivated.
- Saturday workouts will build endurance towards the goal race distance.
- Your training schedule will include workouts for you to do on your own throughout the week which will help you see more progress.
- If you cannot make a workout, you will have the schedule to continue to follow the plan.
Coaches
Minimum Activity Level
- Ability to run or walk-run 7 miles and currently exercising 3-5 times per week and ability to run-walk/run 30-45 minutes, 3 times per week for the relay distance.
- Ability to run or walk-run at a 13:44 minute/mile pace or faster (same as the maximum pace allowance on Race Day).
