TRAIL TECHNIQUES 2025
The trails are calling, and Fleet Feet Folsom Roseville has a Trail Training Program to help you get out there! This program has experienced coaches, a time-based training schedule, and weekly runs that will introduce you to many different local trailheads in a safe group setting. We will share information on the important components of trail running, fueling, and hydration for the demands of the trail…it’s different than on the road!
This program is meant for anyone who is new to trail running or wants to get back to the basics of trail running techniques.
Kick-Off Informational Meeting
Not sure if Trail Training is for you? All are welcome to meet the coaches on Sunday, April 10th for our introduction to Trail Training at 6:00PM, at Fleet Feet Folsom. After the meeting, we will do a short icebreaker workout.
Weekly Workouts
- April 10th to May 18th
- Thursdays 6 pm at various locations in the Folsom area
- Sundays 7:30 am at various locations in the Folsom, Granite Bay, Auburn areas**
**Parking at some of our meeting locations are at State Parks and are paid parking areas. You can purchase a day pass or purchase a Poppy Pass which we highly recommend for convenience and for your future trail exploration. Finding a friend to carpool with is more fun and economical.
Goal Race
We don’t have one! This program is meant to build or maintain your trail fitness between training cycles.
Training Schedule
- Thursday: Intensity such as intervals, hills, and tempo to improve your fitness.
- Sunday: Easy paced long runs will build each week from 40 to 100 minutes.
- Your training schedule will include workouts for you to do on your own throughout the week, which will help you see more progress. If you cannot make a workout, you will have a schedule to continue to follow the plan.
Education
Coaches and special guests will educate you in person and via email on topics such as trail safety, mobility, nutrition/hydration, how to prepare for a race, injury prevention, and more. They are also a resource and support for you along the way.
Group Training Atmosphere
Enjoy the safety, accountability, information, and motivation that come from a coached group workout environment. We also have a private group on Strava for you to share, communicate, and get motivation from your fellow training members.
Coaches
- Nick Lowell
- Running has been a hobby of Nick’s since high school. It wasn’t until 2019 when he decided to train for his first marathon, that he took his love for running to the next level. That next level began with Fleet Feet's marathon training group. Since then, he’s completed six marathons and numerous trail races, including the Salmon Falls 50K. Along the way, he’s learned the do's and don’ts of running and has gained product knowledge through his work at Fleet Feet. He’s excited to share his experience and passion for running by coaching Trail Techniques. See you out on the trails!
- Yuli Gutierrez
- Yuli was inspired to take up running when she was really young by her elementary school teacher. Ever since then, running has stayed a constant in her life. She has competed in cross country and track and field all through high school and one season in college. Shortly after, she started to race half marathons. Running has always made her feel free and has helped build the person she is today. Through her running journey she has learned that it is not always about going fast or winning. It is about enjoying the sport and meeting new people along the way. Yuli started coaching in 2024 and really enjoys helping people reach their goals and showing them just how great running can be! Coaching has warmed her heart and inspires her to keep running as well!
