Training Schedule
The training is designed to increase week to week so you build slowly, steadily, and consistently towards your goals.
- The Thursday workouts consist of intensity such as intervals, hills, and tempo to improve your fitness.
- The Sunday workouts are endurance, building towards the goal race distance. In order to keep everyone on schedule, there will be a strict time cap for the long runs (based on a 17 minute per mile pace).
- Your training schedule will also include workouts for you to do on your own throughout the week which will help you see more progress. If you can’t make a workout, you will have the schedule to continue to follow the plan.
Goal Race
We will prepare you for the American River 25 Mile Endurance Run on April 5th, 2025. Race registration is not included.

Tim Casagrande ran his first 5k in March of 2005 and built up to a marathon personal record by 2007. In 2008, the trails were calling and Tim hasn’t seriously raced on roads since. He has dabbled in triathlons and ran his first ultramarathon in 2010, but mostly spent the last 15 years exploring every trail he could find in our area and developing a small obsession with climbing hills. Tim loves being outside and exploring everything NorCal has to offer. He also thoroughly enjoys sharing the trails with friends and the Fleet Feet faithful, which is his inspiration for coaching. Join Coach Tim on the trails!

Dave Heitmann has been a Fleet Feet running Coach and Mentor for a few years now and is First Aid/CPR and Wilderness/Remote Location First Aid Certified. Shortly after completing his first marathon in 2009, his curiosity for trail and endurance running peaked by his passion for the outdoors and experiencing the majestic scenic views our backyard has to offer. Ultimately, leading him to completing numerous Ultra distance trail races and many miles of adventures. Dave’s coaching and mentoring expands from 5Ks, 10Ks, 1/2 Marathons, Marathons, and Ultra distances. He’s helped countless runners accomplish their running goals over the years, whether it be reaching a new personal record (PR), running their first race, or finding confidence in themselves to achieve what most feel is unattainable, while making lifelong friendships and memories along the way. We all have our own purpose for running, but most of us share a passion for setting a goal and seeing it come to fruition. As your coach, Dave will help motivate you to reach your goals, in a smart and safe way and build bonds and friendships with fellow runners to carry you forward towards your next running adventure. Adventure begins where the road ends, so let's hit the trail together!
